Security Cameras
Protect your home and family with GlobalTek’s latest suite of security surveillance systems. Residential security cameras not only act as a deterrent for criminals, but also assist police with video evidence of crimes that can be used in a court of law.
Video Verified Response
Many are not aware, but police departments are adopting new policies when responding to residential alarms. This is a Canada-wide phenomenon. The security industry tends to not want to speak of it because most companies have not developed bone fide workarounds to the problem. (Note to Katrina: Highlight “bonefide workarounds” and link to our future TAG Dispatch blogpost). But GlobalTek Security has been at the forefront of this change. One way to gain a police dispatch is with video verified response. With our integrated solutions, a signal from the intrusion alarm will alert our station personnel of a potential break-in. Our trained and certified staff can then view your camera events from our central station to determine if the threat is real and act accordingly. The operators only have access to the video footage while the security system is in actual alarm, thus always giving full privacy to our customers. Video verified response is currently one of only a couple ways to now receive police dispatch.
CCTV Surveillance Systems vs. IP Camera Solutions
Closed Circuit Television cameras (CCTV) are cameras that are hardwired back to an NVR (network video recorder), which record footage uninterrupted. The benefits of CCTV cameras include local storage, continuous recording, and no monthly fee. While this may seem attractive at first glance, they can be rather expensive to install, relative to their IP Wi-Fi counterparts.
IP cameras while requiring power, do not ethernet back to an NVR like CCTV cameras, but rather communicate via Wi-Fi back to your modem. They are much more cost effective, as they are generally easier to install. And since most homeowners only require standard solutions, this often makes CCTV installations “overkill” for a residential application. Because there isn’t a network video recorder on site to save footage, however, these types of cameras generally carry a small monthly fee to account for cloud storage, which is where your video clips save.
