Press Release – GlobalTek’s Life Guardian Partners with Bayshore Health

Bayshore HealthCare Makes Strategic Digital Health Partnerships with Life Guardian by GlobalTek PERS and Dot Health to Enhance Home Care Services

April 2nd, 2020

Toronto, Ontario, Bayshore HealthCare, one of Canada’s leading home and community care service providers boasting more than 350,000 clients nation wide, is pleased to announce two new strategic digital health partnerships with Life Guardian by GlobalTek PERS and Dot Health to enhance its home care services. The partnerships give Bayshore clients access to home care products and technologies that enable seniors to live independently and safely in their own homes.

“Bayshore HealthCare is embracing the advancement of digital health technologies in our home care services to empower clients, so they have the confidence to live independently and longer in their own homes,” says Anisha Patel, Manager of Product Implementation and Operations at Bayshore HealthCare. “These new partnerships compliment our MyBayshoreCare online platform and provide our clients with the flexibility to choose services and technologies that meet their home care needs, while helping them feel safe, connected, and free to enjoy their lives.”

Bayshore’s partnership with Life Guardian by GlobalTek PERS, allows clients to purchase or lease its state-of-the-art 4G medical pendant; a light, durable personal emergency response system (PERS) that can be used at home or on the go. The pendant can be adjusted as a necklace, wrist band, or placed in a pocket. Monitored 24-hours, 365 days a year, the Life Guardian PERS 4G medical pendant instantly notifies its monitoring center, which contacts emergency services and family members when a fall or “SOS” has been detected. With built in GPS technology, their exact location (within 15 metres) is quickly known, and its geofence feature helps family members track their loved ones including entry and exit from “safe zones,” which is especially useful for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Life Guardian, and its corporate parent GlobalTek Security Inc., has been providing life safety and security devices to Canadians for nearly two decades.

According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), 51 percent of all injury-related hospitalizations in Canada were for seniors aged 65 and older. More than 137,500 seniors in Canada age 65 and older were hospitalized for injuries in 2017–2018, and of these injuries, 80 per cent were due to falls.

Bayshore’s partnership with Dot Health gives clients access to its real-time personal health data platform, which collects, stores, and manages medical and health information from doctors and healthcare clinics all in one place. Through visuals and dashboards, the app helps users make sense of health data such as lab results and to better understand their significance. It provides useful information that can be shared with family members or other healthcare providers such as doctor’s notes, operative reports, emergency records, blood work, immunization records, diagnostic imaging reports and notes taken during a doctor’s appointment.
